"AUTOMATING YOUR BUSINESS with AUTOMATE" -
software review

More recently we've been seeing
a slew of online automation tools.
From submission software to online web tools. In the internet
marketing arena--AUTOMATION IS KING!
There are so many tools for
automating your business it's incredible,
and making good use of them will reward you well.
So what can automation do for
you?
That's something you'll need
to ask
yourself first.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO AUTOMATE?
- Do you find yourself doing
the same task day after day?
- Do you wish you could assign someone else to accomplish boring
repetitive work?
- How can put your promotion efforts on AUTO-PILOT?
If you said yes to any of these,
then you need to automate!
Personally, I think I already
own just about every piece of automation software ever made.
Why? Because it always ends up paying for itself
many times over.
While this article might be
a little advanced for those of you who
havn't started automating as yet, I want to share something with
you
that has been working wonders for me.
After years of collecting automation
tools, I found that it's still a hassle to actually use these
tools. While they're great and accomplish a lot of work, I still
have to launch them, enter data, and hang around my computer
while they work.
Let me give you an example:
Let's say you use a software
application to submit your website to the search engines. First
you have to lauch the program... then enter in your site information...
then select the search engines you want to submit to and then
click on "START".
While that process doesn't
seem so bad, considering that the software will perform all the
submitting. But, if you're a serious internet marketer like me,
not only do you use a search engine submitter, but you also use
other software applications to promote your site as well. Not
to mention "working the web" and doing many submissions
manually.
Personally, I run about 8 different
applications every day. I promote to search engines, newsgroups,
classified ad sites, message boards, FFA links, and advertise
in ezines.
So how do I handle it all?
There's an interesting piece
of software called "AUTOMATE".
Nope there's no affiliate plan for this one, and I don't sell
it either, but I do recommend it.
It allows me to AUTOMATE all
of my automation software. For instance, I can program my search
engine submitter to automatically launch, then connect to the
web, and start submitting to the search engines. AutoMate allows
me to set up this routine to run completely automatically once
a day, week, month, or whenever I want.
I can set it to log onto the
net, goto a web site, and then complete a form. I can even set
it to click on submit buttons all while I'm out walking my dog--or
sound a sleep.
AutoMate lets you start any
DOS or Windows program at any time you select. AutoMate does
not just launch a program at a selected time and run from a macro
within that program. Instead the program records all keystrokes
and/or mouse clicks taken when the program is launched during
initial recording and repeats those exact same actions.
The recorded program/event
can be scheduled for options of x minutes, hours, days, weekdays,
weekends, weeks, months, quarters, and years. You can set the
initial time and date for the schedule to start on.
AutoMate can be used to execute
simple maintenance tasks like running ScanDisk or Defrag to at
a preselected date and time but it is just as capable of running
more complicated tasks. For example, AutoMate can log into your
Internet Provider, check your email and log off. Then it can
perform selected backups or file maintenance tasks. This is done
by creating a macro using the Macro Task Builder Wizard.
You don't need to understand
anything about macros to easily and successfully use this program.
All you need to understand is that any computer action you perform
is just one of a series of steps taken to complete a certain
task. AutoMate simply records each step and allows you to set
the dates and times you want these same steps repeated.
While the software is extremely
powerful, it's pretty simple to use.

Target For Cheaper Ads and
Better Results

One of the great secrets of
advertising is the more you
target the better your results. Targeting means limiting your
advertising to people who are most likely to become your
customers. Targeting can also slash the cost of advertising
your business.
We often think of marketing
as telling your message to as
many people as you can. If we put your commercial on
network television's top show would sales pour in? Not
necessarily.
Network television isn't very
targeted. Big media who
reach a LOT of people also reach a lot of DIFFERENT
kinds of people. While you will be in front of many who
will be interested in what you sell, most won't. The big ad
prices you pay will largely be wasted on the wrong
prospects.
Pay-per-click search engines
like GoTo.com, ePilot.com,
NetFlip.com offer good examples of cheap, targeted
advertising. You can spend two dollars per click to have
your site listed under a broad, popular term like
"marketing." Expect to pay considerably less for "direct
marketing company."
While fewer people will search
for "direct marketing
company," if that is the business you are in, every one
of
those few will be interested in your offers. By targeting
your search terms, you get more sales at a far lower cost.
Radio, TV, and newspapers work
the same way. A sporting
goods store would do well to buy very low-cost ads on a
low-rated sports radio talk show. Small display ads in the
daily newspaper's sports section would work well too.
Use targeting when you are
planning your ad campaign.
Sometimes smaller, cheaper media directed at your best
prospects is your most efficient bet.
